Teirdre Owens

​Biography: 
Teirdre is an outreach coordinator with the U.S. House of Representatives, proudly serving Alabama’s 7th Congressional District. Teirdre considers herself a rural strategist, specializing in connecting rural leaders and communities with innovative resources and plans to foster economic growth and development. Teirdre is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Samford University in health management and policy, she excitedly anticipates graduation in May 2022. Prior to her work with Congresswoman Sewell, Teirdre served as a partnership specialist with the United States Census Bureau, working to ensure a complete and accurate count for Alabama during the 2020 census. As a direct result of the work of the partnership team, Alabama maintained all 7 Congressional seats. As a healthcare advocate and community strategist, Teirdre is dedicated to promoting evidence-based discourse around health equity and underrepresented voices in public health. She looks forward to working with local communities to improve economic opportunities by bridging the gap between economic and public health opportunities.
